Iver Dahl, Jr.

Iver Dahl Jr. (Junior), 79, of Park River, passed away June 12, 2023, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Iver Dahl Jr. was born November 12, 1943 in Lawton, ND the son of the late Iver Dahl Sr. & Olga (Dovre) Dahl. He grew up in Shepherd Township, Walsh County, ND. He went to Shepherd Country School through 8th Grade. He was a mechanic at Cenex in Adams, ND before working for Elmo Setness Construction in Park River.

On May 15, 1971 Junior was united in marriage to Theresa (Teri) Haider. The couple made their home in Park River and had one daughter, Jeanie. In 1981 Junior started his own carpentry business and worked for over 50 years. They spent most of their time attending Aggie sporting events, and various polka fests, and threshing shows in the Midwest and Canada.

Junior was a board member for Northeast North Dakota Pioneer Machinery Association and a lifetime member of Western Minnesota Steam Thresher’s Reunion (Rollag). He spent many hours working in his shop on various projects including restoring Model T’s, prairie tractors, gas tractors, gas engines, and many other projects. He held a very special place in his heart for Rumely Oil Pull tractors.

Junior is survived by his wife of 52 years, Teri; daughter, Jeanie (Nate) Haaland of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Tyler and Leighton Haaland of West Fargo, ND; father-in-law, Melvin Haider of Mahnomen, MN; brother in laws; Jim (Bonita) Haider of Perham, MN and Steve (Kathy) Haider of Mahnomen, MN; sister in laws; Marion Schaaf of Billings, MT, JoAnn Paulson of Shevlin, MN, Rosemary Haider of Burnsville, MN, and Gin Dahl of St Cloud, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

Junior is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Aldus Dahl and Kenneth Dahl, and mother-in-law, Lillian Haider.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 16, 2023 at 10:30am at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Park River. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00pm followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00pm at the church. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Northeast North Dakota Pioneer Machinery Association or First Care Health Center preferred.
