Irene Lane

Violet Irene Heazlett Lane, 95, passed away on Saturday September 19 ^th 2020 at her apartment in Grafton, ND.

She was born on August, 29 ^th 1925 in Drayton, ND to Benjamin and Olive Littlejohn Heazlett.

Irene grew up in Glasston attended the Littlejohn country school and graduated from Saint Thomas High school in 1943. After high school Irene attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where she received a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics, and graduated with honors in 1947. She then began her career as a teacher.

Irene married Henry Lane on June 17, 1947 near Glasston, North Dakota. They were happily married for 63 years. The couple farmed in Glasston ND from 1951 until 1982. Irene was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School superintendent for many years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron and the Cavalier Pioneer Daughters.  Irene and Henry together served as leaders of the Glasston Galaxy 4-H club.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin & Olive Heazlett; sister Donna Jensen and Husband Henry.

Irene is survived by her sons: Burel (Norleen) Lane of Prior Lake, MN; Dwight (DeAnna) Lane of Glasston, ND; Darvin (Mavis) Lane of Alvin, TX.  She will be lovingly remembered by her 7 grandchildren: Elizabeth (James) de Leon, Ben (Brittany) Lane, April (Slade) McCarty, Emilie (Tyler) Evink, Audrey Lane, Alexander Lane, and Helen Lane and by her 6 Great Grandchildren; Henry, Raymond, Leo, Eleanor, Fulton and Zake.

Graveside services will be Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 4:00 PM at the Glasston Cemetery, Glasston, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, ND. Due to limited seating in the church and the current Covid-19 restrictions, people are encouraged to attend the visitation. Social Distancing and face masks will be required.
