Irene A. Elshaug

Irene A. Elshaug, age 93 of Grand Forks, formerly of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Valley Eldercare Center of Grand Forks.

Irene Adlaine Tjosheim was born October 10, 1924 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of the late Adolph and Inger (Brenna) Tjosheim. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Grafton High School in 1942. She worked for Kerian’s in Grafton for 2 years following her education. She was united in marriage to Edward Elshaug on June 28, 1945 in Grand Forks, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton following their marriage. She worked for Norge Drycleaners for 25 years, retiring in 1989. Edward passed away in 1999.

Irene was a lifelong member of the Grafton Lutheran Church. She enjoyed visiting with people, spending time on the computer, quilting, crafting, cooking, baking, taking bus trips, playing the piano and organ, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Roger (Janet) Elshaug, Casa Grande, AZ, Sharyl (Gary) Simeone, Grand Forks, ND, and Sandra Elshaug, Grand Forks, ND, six grandchildren: Ryan Elshaug, Julie (Kelly) Cota, Arianna, Isabella, Anthony, and Devin Simeone, and two great grandchildren: Liam and Gracelynn Cota. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, sisters: Orla Schrank and Ione Chester.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery in the spring.
