Ione Bjornson, age 86 of Grafton, formerly of St. Thomas and Park River, ND died Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Ione Hanson was born November 26, 1921 in Pekin, ND the daughter of the late Albert and Karen (Stromme) Hanson. She attended rural schools near Pekin. She was united in marriage to Albin Bjornson on April 17, 1943 in Binford, ND. The couple lived and farmed near there until 1957. In 1960 the couple moved to Park River where they lived until his death on September 30, 1984. She moved to St. Thomas, ND and lived there until 2000 when she moved to Grafton. She moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home on April 11, 2001.
Ione was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church and WELCA of St. Thomas, ND and the St. Thomas American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children: Sandra Gordon, St. Thomas, ND; Darrell (LuJune) Bjornson, St. Thomas, ND; Lois (Richard) Nesvig, Buxton, ND; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and sister Eunice Kirkeby, Hillsboro, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Clarine Jacobson, brothers: Joel Hanson, Leland Hanson, granddaughter, Bobbi Jean Gordon and son-in-law, James Gordon.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 20, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
