Inga (Ingrid) Gudrun Verke Hammer, age 99 of Fairdale, ND passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Inga Hammer was born October 17, 1915 in Osnabrock Township of Cavalier County, the daughter of the late Carl and Caroline (Hanson) Verke, Sr. She attended school at the Osnabrock Consolidated School. Inga was united in marriage to Marvin Hammer on July 21, 1933 in Fairdale, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Fairdale for many years. Inga was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Fairdale Community Club, Our Redeemer's Quilters and a Sunday School teacher. She was a skilled quilter, embroiderer, gardener and homemaker. Inga greatly enjoyed the company of family and friends and she loved to entertain at her home. Inga is survived by her children: Merlin (Beverly) Hammer, Fairdale, ND; Irvin (Gladys) Hammer, Fairdale, ND; Delores (Neil) McDonald, Grafton, ND; Evelyn (Marv) Skytland, Carrington, ND; Vern (Lynda) Hammer, West Fargo, ND; and Ron (Judy) Hammer, Fairdale, ND; 16 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, sisters: Alida Roppel and Selma Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin O. Hammer, grandson, Troy Neil McDonald, brothers: Bryon Verke, William Verke, Lloyd Verke, Edwin Verke, Hartley Verke, Gilbert Verke, Clayton Verke and Carl "Bud" Verke, Jr. sisters: Ethel Gerszewski, Violet Deplazes, and Marion Latulippe, foster nephews: Edward and Allen Hooey. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church of Fairdale, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Silvesta Lutheran Cemetery.
