Ila Eikenberry

Ila V. Eikenberry, age 85 of Grafton, ND passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Ila V. Bjerke was born November 7, 1924 near Hoople, ND the daughter of the late Axel and Ida (Erlandson) Bjerke. She grew up and attended school there. Ila was united in marriage to Russell "Red" Eikenberry on March 18, 1957 in Crookston, MN. The couple made their home in Grafton, ND where Ila worked as a nurse's aide for the Grafton Developmental Center and the Unity Hospital. When the couple retired they moved to Grand Forks, ND where they lived until December of 2006 when they moved into the Lutheran Sunset Home. Ila was a member of the Grafton V.F. W. Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband Red, Grafton, ND; her children: Amber Houdek (Jerome Dyvedahl), Grand Forks, ND; Bruce Eikenberry (Kristi Stenso), Grafton, ND; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Phillip Carrico, brothers: Almer, Orville, Alvin and sister Viola Holt. Memorial services will be Monday, May 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service.
