Hope Elizabeth Johnson Torkelson, 80, peacefully passed away on February 8, 2009, at the Grafton Lutheran Sunset Home surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Hope was born on July 7, 1928, at Cavalier, ND, to Alfred N. Johnson and Elizabeth (Lux) Jackson Johnson.
In 1950 she married Marlin W. Torkelson in Grafton, ND. Hope was first and foremost a loving mother and devoted wife. Outside the home, she worked at the Grafton State School hospital and as a dental assistant in Grafton. She and Marlin were proud parents of a twin son and daughter, Jeffrey and Deborah, and loving grandparents to five grandchildren, and one great grandson.
Hope is survived by her husband Marlin; her twin son and daughter Jeffrey (Pam) Torkelson, West Fargo, ND, and Deborah (Len) Dusek, Wahpeton, ND; grandchildren Mark Torkelson, West Fargo, ND, Rebecca (Jeremy) Baumgartner, Valley City, ND, Lynn (Arielle) Dusek, Argusville, ND, and Lee (Teresa) Dusek, St. Cloud, MN; great grandson Zachary Baumgartner, Valley City, ND; and brother Alfred N. (Eleanor) Johnson, Jr., Chico, CA.
She was preceded in death by granddaughter Tina Torkelson, her parents, two brothers, and a sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 13, 2009, at St. John's Catholic Church, Grafton.
Visitation is from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday, at the Tollefson Funeral Home in Grafton, with a rosary at 6:30 and prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Friends may call at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service. Internment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Church Cemetery in the spring. Memorials are preferred to Altru Hospice Grafton Unit and the Grafton Lutheran Sunset Home.
The Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton is in charge of the arrangements.
