Hope E. Dahlgren

Hope E. Dahlgren, age 98 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Hope Bergquist was born September 14, 1927 on the family farm near Fairdale, ND, the daughter of the late Elmer and Thora (Nordlie) Bergquist. She grew up and attended school in Fairdale. Following her education, she helped on the family farm for several years. She was united in marriage to Palmer Dahlgren on June 21, 1948. The couple made their home and farmed near Adams, ND until his passing in 1966. Hope moved to Grafton in 1973 where she began her almost 20 year career at the Grafton State School. She continued making her home in Grafton, moving into the Leisure Estates in 2019 and later the Lutheran Sunset Home in 2025.

She was a former member of the Vang Lutheran Church near Fairdale where she was also the church pianist. She later was a member of the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Grafton. She also volunteered at the Lutheran Sunset Home for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, and canning.

She is survived by her daughters: Joan Murphy, Sun City, AZ and Barbara Sutton, Green Valley, AZ; 7 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren with 1 more on the way; as well as her cousin Don Bergquist, Adams, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Palmer; step-daughters Paulette Molstad and Bonnie Wick; and grandchildren: Jeremy Sutton and Darcee Wick.

Memorial services will be Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the Vang Lutheran Cemetery of rural Fairdale.
