Herbert W. Presteng

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Herbert Willard Presteng, age 94, of Grafton, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2010. He was born March 11, 1916 to Adolph and Dorothea (Bjerke) Presteng in rural Grafton, where he lived his entire life until moving to the Lutheran Sunset Home with his wife three years ago. Herb was a loving, generous, and very entertaining man who was happiest surrounded by his family. He took pride in the numerous houses, churches, and professional buildings he built throughout the years. Herb also spent several years farming the land homesteaded by his grandparents. Herb leaves his devoted wife of 73 years, Dorothea Holt Presteng, two sons: Allan (Debbie) and John (Anne) of Grafton; three daughters: Carol (Don) Fossum of Puyallup, WA; Jean (Terry) Olson of Grafton; and Lois (Lyle) Forde of Arlington, WA. He also leaves eighteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two baby girls, one great-granddaughter Gracie Kay Nelson, brother Trueman and sister Edna Olson. Funeral services will be Monday, September 6, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Bethel Free Lutheran Church of Grafton, which Herb built and was a charter member. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
