Henry B Skorheim

Henry B. "Bud" Skorheim, age 85 of Park River and Adams, ND passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at First Care Health Center. Henry B. "Bud" Skorheim was born January 29, 1929 in Dwight, ND the son of the late Henry O. and Tilda (Johnson) Skorheim. He lived in Dwight until the age of 6 when the family moved to the Hoff Farm near Adams. He attended rural school at the Hoff School, attended high school in Adams and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River. Bud farmed with his father following his education. In 1951 he started farming with his brother Dennis and they farmed together until dissolving the partnership in 1980. Bud married Verna Delle Laithwaite on December 29, 1954 in Edinburg. In 1980 Bud started farming with his son Jay and they farmed together until he retired from farming for over 60 years. The couple moved to Park River in 1993 and in July of 2013 he moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Park River. Bud and Verna Delle enjoyed spending their winter months in Apache Wells, AZ for over 30 years. He was a member of the Hoff Lutheran Church of rural Adams where he had served on the church council. He served on numerous boards some of which include the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton, Adams Farmers Union Oil Board, and the First United Bank and Agency Board. He served as Norton Township Supervisor, served on the Adams School Board and was a member of the Hillcrest Country Club in Park River. He is survived by his wife, Verna Delle, of Park River, his children: Paul (Melinda) Skorheim, Sauk Centre, MN; Jay (Becky) Skorheim, Park River, ND; Barbara (Deron) Redinger, Fargo, ND; six grandchildren: Ryan, Laura, Matthew, Trevor, Craig and Michael, five great grandchildren: Noel, Livia, Vera, Zoey and Aeyla; his brothers: Harvey Skorheim, Hutchinson, MN; Ray (Viola) Skorheim, Minot, ND; Donald Skorheim, Grafton, ND and Dennis (Arnola) Skorheim, Park River, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth. Funeral services will be Monday, May 19, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Hoff Lutheran Church, rural Adams, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
