Henry Raymond Pinta Sr.

Henry Raymond Pinta Sr., age 74 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Henry Raymond Pinta was born September 9, 1939 in Walsh Center Township, ND, the son of the late Frank and Martha (Kroll) Pinta. He grew up in the Grafton area and attended rural school at District 101. He later attended and graduated high school from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. Following his education he returned home and joined the National Guard. He also began farming with his dad and brothers. He was united in marriage to Maria Candelaria "Candy" Castillo on December 27, 1986 in Crystal City, TX. The couple made their home near Grafton and he continued to farm until the time of his death. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton, the Grafton Knights of Columbus, the Walsh Center Township board, the Minto and Grafton Elevator Boards, the Crop Improvement Association, and the Grafton American Legion Post #41. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, farming, gardening, taking care of his grandchildren, and woodworking. He is survived by his wife Maria Candelaria "Candy" Castillo Pinta, Grafton, children: Henry Raymond (Candice) Pinta II and their children Henry Raymond III and Gabriel Augustine Pinta, Frank Benito (Janice) Pinta, and their children McKenna Ray and Frank Benito Pinta Jr., and Candy Jo Pinta, all of Grafton, siblings Benedict Pinta and Martha Campbell, both of Grafton. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Joseph and Felix. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Military rights will be provided by the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard and the Grafton American Legion Post #41. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
