Henry Lee Lane, age 90 of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Valley Eldercare Center of Grand Forks. Henry Lee Lane was born January 25, 1920 in Mobeetie, TX the son of the late Burel Roberd and Myrtle (Meadows) Lane. He grew up and attended schools there. He served in the Army Air Corp from 1942-1946 serving in San Bernadino, CA. While in the service he served as the flight engineer for Howard Hughes. Following his discharge he worked at the Grand Forks Airport. Henry was united in marriage to Irene Heazlett on June 17, 1947 in Glasston, ND. He attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. He worked as airplane mechanic in Aberdeen, SD and Fargo, ND. In 1951 he started farming near Glasston, ND and farmed until 1982. The couple moved into St. Thomas, ND in 1971 and in October of 2009 they moved to Grand Forks. He was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church and served on the church board. He was a member of the St. Thomas Masonic Lodge #30, serving as Master several times, served as a Rainbow Dad for many years. He was a member of the St. Thomas American Legion Post, served as a leader for the Glasston Galaxy 4-H club and enjoyed showing horses with his sons in Pembina County. He is survived by his wife Irene of Grand Forks, ND; sons: Burel (Norleen) Lane, Prior Lake, MN; Dwight (DeAnna) Lane, Glasston, ND; Darvin (Mavis) Lane, Alvin, TX; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Emilie, Audrey, Helen, Alexander, Ben and April. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Robert and Glynn. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church of St Thomas, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM with a Masonic service and prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Glasston Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the St. Thomas American Legion Post.
