Helen Russum

Helen Russum, age 96 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Helen Russum, the only child of Herman and Anna (Johnson) Russum was born May 13, 1920, at Grafton, North Dakota. She spent her entire life in the Grafton community. She attended school 12 years in Grafton, graduating in the class of 1938. She often commented about how many of the boys in her class died during World War II. After high school Helen worked on the farm and with State Farm Insurance. She was an avid gardener and landscaper and worked to make her farm a place of beauty.

She was a lifetime member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and was active in WELCA. At her passing, she was the oldest member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, and was very involved in church activities. She left the farm and moved into the Lutheran Sunset Home in December of 2006 where she lived until her passing. Helen was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 2:00 P.M.at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Grafton, North Dakota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
