Helen June Gunderson

Helen June Gunderson, age 83 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, March 05, 2011 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton. Helen June Groven was born December 8, 1927 in Grafton, the daughter of the late Emil and Minerva (Thompson) Groven. She attended elementary school at the Sinkler school and graduated from Grafton High School. She later attended Mayville State College for a time. Following her education she worked at the Walsh County Bank in Grafton. Helen June was united in marriage to Winten Gunderson on May 29, 1948 at the Zion Lutheran Church near Hoople. The couple lived in Hamilton, ND and Fairdale, ND before moving back to Grafton. They later moved to Park River where they lived until 2006 when they returned to Grafton. She was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church and WELCA, the DECCA of Park River, ND; and she was active with the blood drives in both Park River and Grafton. Helen June is survived by her husband Winten, Grafton, ND; children: Tim (Peggy) Gunderson, St. Thomas, ND; Wendy (Paul) Bina and Jill (David) Bosanco, both Grafton, ND; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren; her brother Gordon Groven, Thorpe, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, son James Allen and brother Earl Groven. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at the Grafton Lutheran Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
