Hazel Tabu Ranta

Hazel Tabu Ranta, age 33 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Sanford Hospital of Fargo after a courageous battle with cancer.

Hazel Tabu was born April 29, 1990 in Ebeye, Marshall Islands to Morrow Tabu and Esther Lath.  She grew up and attended school there until moving to California 2016.  She moved to Grafton in 2018 where she worked at the AmericInn for a short time before starting as a nutritional assistant at the Park River Good Samaritan Center.  She was united in marriage to Maiko Ranta on July 10, 2021 in Grafton.

She attended the Grafton Assembly of God Church in Grafton.  She enjoyed dancing, singing, playing piano, as well as volleyball and softball.

Hazel is survived by her husband Maiko, Grafton, ND; children: Laura, Adrian and Akji Ranta, parents: Morrow and Esther Tabu, siblings: Cathreen Tabu, Emlai Tabu, Leban Tabu, Runita Tabu Erakdrik, Estee Tabu Koontz, Julia Tabu Pedro, Junibuj Tabu, Neias Tabu, Morrie Tabu Bokna and Juliana Tabu; mother and father-in-law Scott and Lynda Kern, brother-in-law Jien Kern, Roy Lucky; as well as numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by: her siblings: Jonita Tabu, Rubiko Tabu Longbata and Tabu Tabu, as well as her grandparents Tabu Leslai and Kilotor Leslai.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Grafton Assembly of God Church.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
