Harriet Fingarson

August 10, 1929 — March 21, 2009

Harriet Eunice Fingarson went to meet her Lord, peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2009 surrounded by her family. Harriet Eunice Christianson was born August 10, 1929 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Thelmer and Mabel (Flaten) Christianson. She attended schools in Lankin, ND and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River, ND in 1947. She then attended the St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo, ND, graduating in 1950. She worked in Grand Forks, ND for a time prior to her marriage to Merlin Fingarson on January 2, 1954 in Park River, ND. The couple made their home near Edinburg. Harriet worked as a Registered Nurse at the Deaconess Hospital and later Unity Hospital in Grafton for over 35 years. She loved her nursing career and worked well into her 70's.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and WELCA of Edinburg, ND where she served on various boards and committees.

Harriet is survived by her children: Timothy Fingarson, Madrid Spain; Lindsey (Lori) Fingarson, Edinburg, ND; Joan (Robert) Pilon, Grafton, ND; Paul Fingarson, Edinburg, ND; five grandchildren: Annie, Alisa & Dexter Pilon and Hayley & Mikayla Fingarson; siblings: Joan (Howard) Nichol, Glastonbury, CT and Marvin Christianson, Mountain, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on Jan. 23, 1995 and brother Arnie Christianson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Edinburg.

The Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg is in charge of the arrangements.
