Harriet E. Erickson

Harriet E. Moen Erickson, age 87 of Park River, ND passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Harriet McCauley was born on December 16, 1924 in Success, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of the late William J. and Iva Mae (Cameron) McCauley. She attended schools in the Park River area, graduating from the Walsh County Agricultural and Training School in 1943. Following her education she worked as a nurse's aide at the St. Ansgar's Hospital, as well as at several retail stores and at the school in Park River. She was united in marriage to George Moen on January 19, 1945 at the Pleasant Valley Church in rural Park River. He passed away on April 7, 1974. She later married Gunnard Erickson on May 24, 1986 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Park River. Gunnard passed away on July 25, 1986. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and WELCA of Park River. She has sewn and hand embroidered all baptism towels for many years, up to the time of her death, for Our Saviour's in Park River. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She did several counter cross stitch pictures for her grandkids. She also won many awards at the Walsh County Fair for her sewing, baking and canning. She enjoyed doing Sudoku and crossword puzzles every day as well as feeding the humming birds. She is survived by her children: George (Faye) Moen, Park River, ND, Judith (Darrell) Myrvik, West Fargo, ND, Kathryn (Dwight) Myrvik, Fargo, ND, Susan (Bruce) Phelps, Park River, ND, Cynthia (Scott) Sobolik, Fargo, ND, Timothy (Jan) Moen, West Fargo, ND, 15 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands George and Gunnard, brothers: Wilbur, Fordyce, Juel, James, and sister Mildred. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Park River. Memorials are preferred to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church Maintenance Fund or First Care Health Center.
