Harlan R. Hanson, age 92, of Milton, North Dakota, died on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Arbor Lane in Burnsville, MN.
A "Celebration of Life" service will be at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Burnsville, on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 4 p.m. with the Reverend Paul Gauche officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday . Arrangements are being completed by the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault.
A second "Celebration of Life" service will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, January 31 at Milton Lutheran Church in Milton, ND. Interment will be at Milton Memorial Cemetery.
Harlan Raymond, the son of Edward and Ragna (Olson) Hanson, was born on October 31, 1924 in Milton, ND. He attended 12 years of schooling at Milton Public School where he was active in sports and drama. Harlan served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific Theatre in the Philippines. He married Gladys Hjelmstad on August 29, 1948 at Milton Lutheran Church. Harlan was a farmer and was also instrumental in the rebuilding of the Harvest States Elevator, the construction of the American Legion and the Milton Lutheran Church, of which he is a member. He was also a member of several organizations, including: the American Legion, holding many offices in the local, district and state level; Last Mans Company WWII, serving as Captain and Clerk; Square Dance Clubs, the Milton Promanaders and Langdon Border Belles and Beaus; and president of The Little Star Theatre Association since 1986. Harlan was proud of his hometown hero award for countless hours of community service.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; three sons, Handt (and Kathy) Hanson of Prior Lake, Holden (and Danette) Hanson of Lakeville and Hugh Hanson (and Vini Costanzo) of Pittsburgh, PA; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Bernard, Marvin, Arnold, Edwin and Sidney; two sisters, Thelma and Arleen; and two sisters in infancy.
