Gudrun E. Adsem, age 98 of Grafton, ND passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Gudrun E. Olson was born October 8, 1912 in Fairdale, ND the daughter of the late Emil and Marie (Ringen) Olson. She attended school in Fairdale. At the age of 18 she began working in the cook cars following the threshing rigs from farm to farm. It was at that time she met Ray Adsem of Grafton. They were married January 6, 1944 in Bismarck, ND. They farmed for over 20 years near Warren, MN and later retired to Grafton, ND All her life Gudrun loved music. She especially enjoyed singing in the Norwegian Choir in Grafton. She was still singing Norwegian song while at the Sunset Home. Some of her favorite pastimes were reading her bible, handiwork, baking, flowers and most of all spending time with her grandson Sean. She spent many hours crocheting and memorizing bible verses. She enjoyed making lefse, quilting with the women in her church circle. Her door was open to anyone who wanted to stop by for a visit and cup of coffee. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Shirley Davis, Burnsville, MN; and her grandson Sean Davis, Bloomington, MN. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond on Jan. 2, 1985, three brothers: Edward, Martin and Gudmund; six sisters: Hilda Hetherington, Borghild Legacie, Genevieve Vondra, Idune Frovarp, Josephine Inga Hovde and Nettie Johnson. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Grafton Lutheran church of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the North Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Grafton.
