Grace K. Schultz

Grace K. Schultz, age 86 of Grafton, ND passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Grace Hoenke was born December 20, 1923 in Acton Township of Walsh County, the daughter of the late Alfred and Louise (Horn) Hoenke. She was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Acton Township and confirmed at the Zion English Lutheran Church of Grafton. Grace attended the Acton District 15 School and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River. She took the Civil Service Exam and later worked at the War Department in Washington, DC and Newark NJ from June of 1940 to December of 1946. She returned home and was united in marriage to Earl Schultz on November 21, 1952 at the Zion English Lutheran Church of Grafton. The couple lived and farmed in Acton Township until retiring in 1985. Earl passed away in 1994 and Grace continued to live on the farm until her death. Grace was a member of the Zion English Lutheran Church and LWML of Grafton, ND. She taught Sunday school for many years. She was also active in the Acton Homemakers group. Grace is survived by her children: Allan Schultz, Grafton, ND; Loren Schultz, Grafton, ND; David (Karen) Schultz, Minot, ND; Denise (Roger) Lien, Lakeville, MN; four grandchildren: Tim (Emily) Lien, Mankato, MN; Jason Lien, Lakeville, MN; Kasey Jo Schultz and Zachary Schultz, both of Minot, ND; one great grandson Isaak Lien and brother Charles (Ardella) Hoenke, Grafton, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, son Dale and husband Earl. Funeral services will be Monday, March 8, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Zion English Lutheran Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 PM with a prayer service at 5:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Acton Cemetery near Grafton.
