Grace L. Midgarden

Grace Louise Midgarden, 82, of Park River, ND passed away on February 15, 2019 at First Care Health Center in Park River, ND surrounded by her family.

Grace Louise Wooldridge was born on November 25, 1936 in Park River, ND the daughter of the late Floyd and Theodosia(Snaza) Wooldridge. She was raised in Park River, ND and attended Walsh County Agricultural School. On May 10, 1954, she was married to Russel Midgarden in Crookston, MN. They made their home on a farm outside of Hoople, ND. They eventually moved to Park River in 1963. She was a dedicated mom and farmer’s wife. After their children left home, she went to work at the Good Samaritan Center in Park River as the laundry supervisor.

Grace was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was the “First Lady” during Russel’s two- term mayorship in Park River. Grace was also an active member of the Walsh County Curling Club, Four Seasons Garden Club, Boy Scout leader, Park River Red Machine Hockey Booster and Treasurer of the WIN Club, She loved to sew, paint, knit, crochet, and she was an avid reader. Grandma Grace loved attending her grandchildren’s’ activities, she was their #1 fan. Grace enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially tennis with her furry companion, Angel.

Grace is survived by her children Valery (Loren) Gullickson, Hoople, ND; Tracy (Ross) Spoonland, Park River, ND; Nancy (Daryl) Larson, Park River, ND; Jenny (Duane) Waslaski, Park River, ND; Tim Midgarden, Hoople, ND; Sam (Kristi) Midgarden, Park River, ND; Wes (Renee) Midgarden Camano Island, WA; Mike Midgarden Raleigh, NC; Heidi Hanson Grafton, ND; Sherry (Andrew) Currie, Park River, ND; 27 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; sister Alyce Veralrud; brother Glen (Lois) Wooldridge; sister Delores (Cyril) Novak; sister Bonnie Wooldridge; sister Judy (Bobby) Wyatt; sister Kathy (Tom) Matera; sister-in-law, Ruth Wooldridge;  sister-in-law Alice (Glenn) Moe; sister-in-law Kathy Midgarden; sister-in-law Karen Midgadren. Grace was preceded in death by her husband Russel, her parents, brother Maynard, sister Carol, and brothers-in-law Gordon, Louis, Paul and Joe.

Funeral services: 10:30am on Wednesday, February 20 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Park River, ND visitation 1 hour before service

Prayer Service: 5:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, February 19 at Tollefson Funeral Home, Park River, ND with prayer service to follow at 7:00pm
