Gordon C. Gemmill

Gordon C. Gemmill, age 78 of Edinburg, ND passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Gordon C. Gemmill was born September 2, 1933 in Edinburg, ND the son of the late Herbert W. and Opal (Jensen) Gemmill. He attended rural school near Edinburg and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River in 1951. He worked on the family farm for a time and served in the U.S. Navy for a short time. Gordon worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA for two winters. He was united in marriage to Wilma Momerak on November 25, 1956 in Park River, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Edinburg. In 2004 the couple moved into Edinburg. Gordon was a member of the Grace Free Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND. He served on the township board for many years. Gordon loved to deer hunt, fish and attend auction sales. He restored tractors and loved raising his beef cattle. Gordon loved to visit and relished the time anybody would stop by the house to visit. He is survived by his wife Wilma, Edinburg, ND; children: Karen (Bruce) Langerud, Bismarck, ND; Linda (Leslie) Moe, West Fargo, ND; Mary (J. Kent) Laxdal, Edinburg, ND; Betty (LeRoy) Nelson, Edinburg, ND; Barbara (Chris) Kendall, Edmore, ND; Ronald (Jeanette) Gemmill, Edinburg, ND; 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and siblings: Dale Gemmill, Edinburg, ND; Floyd (Irma) Gemmill, Fordville, ND; Gene (Elaine) Gemmill, Edinburg, ND and Helen (Harold) Sundvor, Edinburg, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Susan, sister Rebecca Ruud and brother Herbert. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM with at prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Odalen Lutheran Cemetery, rural Edinburg.
