Glenn R Monson

Glenn R. Monson, age 100 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center.

Glenn Monson was born April 25, 1923 in Fairdale, ND, the son of the late Olaus and Clara (Hove) Monson.  He attended country school near Adams.  Following his education he worked as a farm hand for several years.  He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was later drafted into the US Army where he served from 1945-1947.  Upon his discharge he returned to Grafton and was united in marriage to Mavis Almen on January 1, 1950.  The couple made their home in Grafton where he worked several jobs including Monson Septic Service, Monson Mower Service, Monson Service Station, and A & M Distributing where he did radiator repair and grain bin installations.  Mavis passed away on April 16, 1995 and he continued to make his home in Grafton until moving into the Good Samaritan Center on November 10, 2023.

He was a member of the Bethel Free Lutheran Church of Grafton, the Grafton American Legion Post #41, the Grafton VFW Post #9367 and the Eagles Aerie 350 of East Grand Forks, MN.

Glenn is survived by his children: Darlene “Dolly” (Steve) Terzich, Burnsville, MN and Mark Monson, Lakeville, MN; grandchildren: James Olson and Irene Olson, Grafton, ND, Shane Olson, Grand Forks, ND, Amanda (Ken) Barber, Windsor, CA, Bryce Monson, Norwalk, IA and Chad Monson, Farmington, MN; great grandchildren: Austin Olson, Allison Olson, Lily Monson, Riley Monson, and Charlie Barber.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mavis, and brother Morris Monson.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the South Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of rural Grafton.  Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
