Glen W. Phelps

Glen W. Phelps, age 78 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Glen W. Phelps was born June 18, 1933 in Langdon, ND the son of the late Royal and Florence (Seufert) Phelps. He attended school in Hoople, ND. He served in the Army Photo Intelligence Corp from 1954-1956. Following his discharge he returned to Hoople and was united in marriage to Arlys Russell on March 14, 1958. The couple moved to Grafton where Glen worked in advertising for the Walsh County Record from 1959-80. He moved to Sidney, MT and worked at the Sidney Herald from 1980-83. He moved to Williston and worked at the Williston Herald from 1983-2008 when he retired. He moved back to Grafton in June of 2010. He was a member of the Grafton V.F. W. Post #9367. Glen is survived by his children: Randy (Linda) Phelps, Fargo, ND; Brent Phelps, Gillette, WY; Craig (Stacey) Phelps, Beulah, ND; Mary Danielson, Laguna Vista, TX, Denise (Keith) Iverson, Williston, ND; 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild and siblings: Scott (Jan) Phelps, Grafton, ND; Joan Grenell, Babbitt, MN; Wesley (Joleen) Phelps, Cavalier, ND; Shirley (Frank) Ruchreigle, East Grand Forks, MN; Cecil (Jeanene) Phelps, Greeley, CO; Judy (Mark) Wilson, Jacksonville, FL; Myra Phelps, Jacksonville, FL; Sheila (Charles) Lietz, Larimore, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Vernon, Michael, Merle, Lyle, Harold, Roy, Kenneth, Milton, Lynn and Gary and sisters: Patty, Marjorie, Vivian and Ethel. Funeral services will be Friday, November 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Friday for two hours prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
