Gladys A. Udby

Gladys Udby, age 90 of Lankin, ND passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Gladys A. Elton was born November 19, 1922 in Norton Township of Walsh County, ND the daughter of the late Gilman and Alma (Berg) Elton. She attended school in Latona Township. Following her education she worked in the cook car for her Aunt Caroline. She also worked at the Mercantile Store in Nash and for Monsebroten farms, picking potatoes. Gladys was united in marriage to Ellsworth Udby on December 31, 1945 in Adams, ND. The couple lived and farmed in Norton Township. She also helped the Kjelland Farms during potato harvest. Ellsworth passed away on March 7, 2005. Gladys continued to live on the farm until January of 2012 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Park River. She was a member of the Hoff Lutheran Church and WELCA. She is survived by her children: Gale (Kenneth) Beneda, Lankin, ND and Wayne Udby, Adams, ND; five grandchildren: Jon (Lori) Beneda, Lankin, ND; Janelle (Greg) Skibicki, Fordville, ND; Sarah (Todd) Fee, Ardoch, ND; Christopher (DeAnn) Udby, Detroit Lakes, MN; Heather (Matt) Kram, Kansas City, KS, nine great grandchildren: Allie, Esten, Bailey, Sydney Beneda, Ezra & Evan Skibicki, Jevin & Jaxon Fee and Bryson Udby, three sisters, Norma Mitzel, Devils Lake, ND; Betty (LeRoy) Stensland, Edmore, ND; Margie (Daniel) Kouba, Michigan, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson, Jared Udby. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 2:30 P.M. at Hoff Lutheran Church, rural Adams, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
