Gladys M. Moerke

Gladys M. Moerke, age 88 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Unity Hospital of Grafton.

Gladys Marie Carlson was born June 17, 1927 in Lebanon, MO the daughter of the late Albert and Sina (Rowe) Carlson. She grew up and attended school there. Gladys was united in marriage to Lynn Moerke on Aug. 22, 1941 in Lebanon. Gladys continued to live in Lebanon while Lynn served in the US Army during World War II. Following his discharge the couple moved to Van Hook, ND. In 1955 the couple moved to Hoople, ND. Gladys starting working at the Lutheran Sunset Home as a nurse’s aide. In 1963 the couple moved to Grafton. Gladys retired from the Lutheran Sunset Home in 1995.

She was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church and the V.F. W. Auxiliary.

Gladys is survived by her children: Sheila Bjorneby, Grafton, ND; Judy (Gary) Vorachek, Alexandria, MN; Allen (Polly) Moerke, Mapleton, ND; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lynn on May 24, 2000, four sisters and six brothers.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
