Gladys V. Bjorneby, age 94 of Grafton and Hoople passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River. Gladys V. Brubakken was born June 6, 1917 near Hoople, ND the daughter of the late Ole and Margit (Moen) Brubakken. She attended rural school near Hoople and graduated from Hoople High School. She attended Dakota Business College in Fargo for a time. Gladys was united in marriage to Norman Bjorneby on November 14, 1937 at Zion Lutheran Church near Hoople, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Hoople. Norman passed away on January 4, 2000. Gladys moved to Park River in 2001 and lived there until 2004 when she moved to Leisure Estates in Grafton. She lived there until May of 2009 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Park River. Gladys was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and WELCA, rural Hoople. She was the church organist for many years. When she moved to Grafton she played the organ at the Lutheran Sunset Home for services. She was a member of the XYZ Club and the Countryside Homemakers. Gladys is survived by her children: Marleene (Allan) Paul, Fargo, ND; Nancy (Keith) Jordahl, Hoople, ND; daughter-in-law; Snookie Bjorneby, Hoople, ND; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Roger, great great granddaughter, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hoople. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
