Gladys L. Baier

Gladys L. Baier, age 103 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Gladys L. Dalzell was born September 28, 1913 in Leroy, ND the daughter of the late Alex and Elma (Foxen) Dalzell. She attended rural school near Leroy and graduated from Walhalla High School. Gladys was united in marriage to Daniel Baier on June 30 1935. The couple made their home near Neche, ND where he worked for area farmers. In 1958 the couple moved to Grafton. Gladys worked at the Day Drive-Inn for a time and later worked at the Grafton Developmental Center as a cook and in the laundry. Daniel passed away on June 7, 1989. Gladys moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in 2008.

She was a member of Grafton Lutheran church and WELCA. She sang in the Norwegian Choir in Grafton and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her daughter: Marlene (Raymond) Lundberg, Republic, MI; daughter-in-law, Karen Baier, Hoople, ND; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, sisters: Janice (Wendell) Martinson, Hoople, ND and Elaine (Grant) Braaten, Walhalla, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Dean , daughter Karen, one grandson, her step-mother, Vida Dalzell Patterson and siblings: Alvin, Laverne, Lawrence, Dorraine, Esther, Howard, Lois and Richard.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Lutheran Sunset Home Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Bruce Cemetery, rural Cavalier, ND.
