Gertrude Ann Hewitt

Gertrude A. “Gert” Hewitt, age 89 of Minto, ND passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center of Larimore, ND.

Gertrude A. Marciniak was born June 13, 1927 in Walsh County, ND the daughter of the late Stanley and Annie (Kuta) Marciniak. She attended school in Minto, ND graduating from Minto High School in 1944. Gert worked at the Minto Grocery Store in High School and for a time following her education. She was united in marriage to Walter “Bud” Hewitt on November 29, 1950 in Minto, ND. The couple lived and farmed near Forest River until retiring in 1986 and moving to Minto. Bud passed away on May 11, 2010. Gert moved to the Good Samaritan Center on November 4th.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society of Minto and the Minto American Legion Auxiliary.

Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Ann Reyne (Mitch) Ryan, Forest River, ND; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Mike) Jensen, Oak Harbor, WA; Shawn (Jenny) Ryan, Grand Forks, ND; Nathan (Nikeysha) Ryan, Forest River, ND; seven great grandchildren; her sister, Sophie Gordon, Sun Valley, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother, Ernest and sister, Evelyn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery of Minto.
