Geraldine L. Bloom

Geraldine L. "Gerry" Bloom, age 84 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Geraldine L. Pederson was born December 21, 1929 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Jarl R. and Sigrid (Johannasson) Pederson. She graduated from Grafton High School in 1948 and graduated from the Deaconess Nursing Program in Grand Forks in 1952. Gerry worked as a R.N at St. Joseph's Hospital in Grafton, ND. She was united in marriage to Lewis Einarson on Nov. 21, 1952. She later worked at the Lutheran Sunset Home, St. Joseph's Hospital, the Grafton State School and Marvin's Jewelry. She moved to Bismarck in 1984 and worked for the State Bar Association until her retirement. She married Arthur Bloom in Bismarck and the couple made their home there. He died in 2008 and in 2009 Gerry moved back to Grafton. In October of 2014 she moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home. Gerry was a member of Grafton Lutheran Church and WELCA, the AMVETS and the Unity Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by her children: Mary Beth (Charles) Wilson, Grafton, ND; Michael Einarson, Vancouver, WA; Mitchell Einarson, Sudbury, VT, Mylo Einarson, Grand Forks, ND and nine grandchildren, step children: Keith (Melvine) Bloom, Bismarck, ND; Twyla (Jeff) Wright, Mandan, ND; Ricky (Rhonda) Bloom, Spencer, IA; Bob (Gail) Bloom, Dickinson, ND and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Marie Louise, son Mark Einarson, daughters-in-law: Susan and Rita Einarson, husband, Arthur Bloom and brothers: Marvin, James, Arthur, Jarl and Robert. Memorial services will be Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
