George C. Lindell

April 25, 1921 — January 22, 2024

George C. Lindell, age 102 of Park River, ND passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River.

George Clifford Lindell was born on April 25, 1921 in Vesta Township, North Dakota, the son of the late Peter Arthur and Anetta (Stenerson) Lindell.   As a young boy George attended country school.  Following his education, George helped on the family farm until he was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. George served in the US Army as a Private First Class from 1942 to 1945.  He served during World War II in the Central Europe Campaign, the Rhineland Campaign, and the Aleutian Campaign.   He was awarded The Bronze Arrowhead, EAME Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, and Five Bronze Campaign Stars.

When George returned home from war, he went back to the family farm. He later met Ann Novak and they were united in marriage June 9, 1952. George and Ann bought a farm in Lankin, ND where they began farming and raising their two boys.  After 22 years of marriage Ann passed away on June 28,1974.  He later married Baretta Larson Enget.

George’s life was lived in the field. He had a love for the land and farming.  A true farmer at heart.  Even after he retired, you would still find him helping other farmers around the area during planting and harvest. When he was not in the field you would find George surrounded by his family.  They meant the world to him.  They would often travel to the rodeo or horse pulls together.  Some of his other hobbies included deer hunting and fishing.  When all else failed, you could find George in his rocking chair with a newspaper or a good western book in hand.  George loved to read a good western, especially by his favorite author Louis LaMour.  George was always there to support his family and grandchildren in anything they did.  His love for them was insurmountable.

George is survived by his children: David (Debbie) Lindell, Edinburg, ND; Robert Lindell, Anchorage, AK; his wife Baretta, Park River, ND and her children: Wanda (Nathan) Thome, Tracey Enget, and Steve Enget, all of Williston, ND; grandchildren: Donovan (Natalie) Lindell, Dominck, Desiree (Douglas) Shaffer, Danita (Joseph) Webb, Dusty Lindell, Tanya Martinson, Waylon and Riley Enget, Drake, Tyler, Natalie, and Sophia Thome, Kirsten Johnson, Kendra, Larissa, and Lizzy Enget; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.  George is the last surviving member of his immediate family.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his late wife Ann, granddaughter Lydia Enget; and siblings: Adeline Windingland, Wally Lindell, Ardys Mandt, Dorothy Kluge, and Alfred Lindell.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Good Samaritan Society of Park River for the excellent care and love they gave to George.
