George H. Gill, Sr. age 72 of Grafton, North Dakota, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2026 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.
George H. Gill was born September 6, 1953 in Foley, Minnesota, the son of the late George E. and Marian C. (Muntifering) Gill. He attended and graduated from Foley High School. After his education he began driving semi-truck for Golden Plump and Peuringer. George was united in marriage to Sharon Nieland on September 19, 1987 in Dillworth, Minnesota. The couple moved to Grafton in 1994. After moving to Grafton, George drove for Tri-Campbell, worked at Marvin’s, Grafton Public Schools and drove for Altendorf Trucking until his health forced him to retire.
George loved to spend time with his grandsons, visiting with his family, tinkering and maintaining his yard.
George is survived by his children: George Gill V, St. Thomas, ND; Ryan Gill, St. Thomas, ND; Megan (Matthew) Mohagen, Grafton, ND; grandsons: Juaquin, Jaime, Jayden and Brayden; siblings: Robert Gill, Cold Spring, MN; Kathy (Dave) Scapanski, Sauk Rapids, MN; Karen (Gerry) Moulzolf, Foley, MN; Kristine (Dave) Midas, Little Falls, MN and sister-in-law, Colleen Gill, Sauk Rapids, MN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother David Gill.
George’s family would like to extend a special ‘thank you’ to Kenny Popiel for all of his help during George’s cancer journey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Grafton, ND.
