Gene R. Hagen

Gene R. Hagen, age 85 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Gene Richard Hagen was born July 26, 1935 the son of the late Louis and Ella (Ackerland) Hagen in Park River, ND.  He was raised and attended school in the Park River area.  He was united in married to Rosalie Kasprick on June 30, 1959 in Grafton.  Gene worked with his father Louis, running the family business Hagen Construction.  Gene took over the business after his father’s death and ran it until his retirement.

Gene was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.  He was the ultimate Minnesota Vikings fan, but his greatest love was his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosalie; his children: Mark (Kathy) Hagen, Grafton, ND; Roger (Adele) Hagen, Sterling, VA; and Susie (John) Corneillie, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Tawnya Hagen Luoma, Grafton, ND; Derek Corneillie, Fargo, ND;  Taylor (Ross) Belgarde, Fargo, ND; and great grandchildren: Mayson, Madyson, Emersyn, Grayson Luoma  and Cohen Belgarde; sister-in-law: Joy Hagen, Georgia.  Gene is the last surviving member of his immediate family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Ron, Don, and Dennis Hagen and his sister, Shirley Orstad.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 23, 2020 at 2:30 P.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. A walk through visitation will be from 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the church. Due to COVID restrictions, capacity requirements and social distancing will be observed, masks will be required.  Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery following the service.
