Fred W Hodny

Fred. W. Hodny, age 90 of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Park River and Lankin, died Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Valley Eldercare Center of Grand Forks. Fred was born July 11, 1924 to Jacob and Mary (Urban) Hodny in Cleveland Township, Walsh County. He attended school in Cleveland Township. He was united in marriage to Bertha Votava, June 19, 1951 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Veseleyville, ND. They lived and farmed in Cleveland Township, Lankin until retiring and moving to Park River. Fred was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Park River, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bechyne, ND, serving as trustee; serving on the Cleveland Township Board, Lankin School Board and Lankin Farmers Union Elevator Board, member of the Catholic Workman and Knights of Columbus, and a 4-H Leader. He enjoyed reading, visiting, traveling, playing cards and time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Hodny, Grand Forks, ND; his children: Marvin (Debra) Hodny, Grand Forks, ND; Richard (Nancy) Hodny, Plainview, MN; Terrence Hodny, Park River, ND; Timothy (Laurine) Hodny, Grand Forks, ND; Kevin (Charlotte) Hodny, Grand Forks, ND; Annette (Brian) Ingulsrud, Fargo, ND; Jane (Tracy) Wolf, Bismarck, ND; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; his brother, Tony (Florence) Hodny. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Jake, Daniel, Henry, Lewis, Frank, Albert; sisters: Lillian Heinrich, Anna Hodek and Mayme Sazama. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Park River, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7:00 P.M. with a rosary service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Bechyne, ND.
