Frank S. Votava, age 98 of Grafton, ND, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.
Frank S. Votava was born October 31, 1918 near Veseleyville, ND the son of the late Frank K and Anna (Matejcek) Votava. He attended rural school near there. Following his education he served in the United States Army from 1941-1945. Following his discharge he returned home and married Martha Sevigny on May 29, 1947 in Grafton. The couple made their home in Grafton and Frank worked for Nodak Rural Electric Company as a lineman for 33 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Grafton American Legion Post and the Grafton V.F.W. Post.
Frank is survived by his children: Allan (Susan) Votava, Grafton, ND; Rosanne (Gary) Omilak, Moline, IL; Diane (Robert) Almen, Grafton, ND; Mark Votava, Grafton, ND; nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy Shereck, Grafton, ND and brother, Stanley Votava, Grafton, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Gene and brother, Marcellin.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 10, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
