Francis W. Thorsteinson

Francis W. Thorsteinson, age 69 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Francis W. Thorsteinson was born October 23, 1943 in Walhalla, ND the son of the late Ingi H. and Edna M. (Pitcher) Thorsteinson. He attended rural school near Olga, ND, and schools in Drayton and Grafton, ND. Following his education he worked construction for Wayne Dupree. Francis was united in marriage to Muriel Grundstrom on October 13, 1967 in Grafton, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton. Francis started working in the shipping and handling department of American Crystal Sugar and retired from there in 2008 after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Valley Cruisers Car Club of Grafton, ND. He enjoyed gardening, snow mobiling, NASCAR, attending car shows and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Francis is survived by his wife Muriel of Grafton, ND; children: Kristi Thorsteinson, Minneapolis, MN and Darren (Amy) Thorsteinson, Detroit Lakes, MN; two grandchildren: Kaydence and Easton Thorsteinson, Detroit Lakes, MN; sisters: Lorraine (Sherman) Monson, Ellensburg, WA; Grace Youngren, Washougal, WA; Joyce Richels, Grafton, ND; brothers: Lawrence "Larry", Morton, WA and Stanley (Gloria), Renton, WA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Todd, brothers: Leonard and Howard and sister Karen. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the Grafton Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Grafton City Cemetery.
