Frances E. Aasand

Frances E. Aasand, age 88 of Grafton, ND passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at her home in Grafton with her husband by her side.

Frances E. Weed was born December 10, 1928 to Dr. Frank and Hortense (Spain) Weed in Park River, ND. She was educated in the Walsh County School District along with attending Smith College in North Hampton, MA. Frances was married to Olaf Aasand on June 27, 1948 and they made their home in Grafton, ND. Their marriage was blessed with six children, a farming partnership, a dedication to faith and commitment to the community.

Frances was a very humble person and asked to be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Through her lifetime Frances was a member of the Grafton Federated Church, along with countless other community and educational organizations in the Grafton and Walsh County areas. While devoted to her family, there was always time to support others in need through her tireless energy. She is already deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Frances is survived by her husband, Ole, five children: John (Debbie) Aasand, Grafton, ND; James (Jan) Aasand, Grafton, ND; Mary (Michael) Pederson, Fargo, ND; Kim Aasand, Anchorage, AK; Charles (Kathy) Aasand, Pocatello, ID, daughter-in-law, Vicki Aasand, Grafton, ND; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and her sister, Pat Harvey, Edina, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Frank, daughters-in-law: JoAnn Aasand and Valerie Aasand, an infant sister and two sisters: Anna Fay and Irene.

Memorial services will be Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grafton Federated Church. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hoople, ND.
