Florence A. Stensland age 84 of Erskine, MN, formerly of Adams, ND, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center of Erskine, MN.

Florence A. Rusten was born May 21, 1933 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of the late Alfred and Lily (Nygard) Rusten. She grew up in the Edinburg area and attended Tiber District 77 and graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo. She then attended Mayville State Teacher’s College and taught in Walsh County for seven years. Florence was united in marriage to Kenneth Stensland on June 21, 1958 in Edinburg. The couple made their home on the family farm where she helped with farming and raising their children. The couple retired from farming and wintered in Grand Forks. They lived in the Grand Forks area for several years until settling in Erskine, MN.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Mountain Lutheran Church of Adams. She was a woman of deep faith. She loved spending time with her family, quilting, crocheting, painting, gardening and singing with Kenneth.

Florence is survived by her husband, Kenneth Stensland, Erskine, MN; children: Lori (Larry) Mondry, Manvel, ND; David (Lisa) Stensland, Slaterville Springs, NY; grandchildren: Katrina, Landon, Justin, Michael (Cassie) Mondry and AJ Stensland; great grandchildren: Alissa, Nakoa, Amber Lily and Wesley Mondry and Avery and Dean Mondry. She is preceded in death by her parents and son, James.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 4, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Adams, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pioneer Memorial Care Center or the Alzheimer’s Association.
