Florence E Lykken

Florence E. Lykken, age 98 of Adams, ND passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Pembilier Nursing Center of Walhalla, ND.

Florence E. Gehrke was born April 6, 1918 in Adams ND the daughter of the late Carl and Wilhelmina (Danker) Gehrke. She attended school in Adams, graduating from Adams High School. Florence was united in marriage to Ervin Fuhrmann. Shortly after their marriage he was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II. He was killed in the Philippines. Florence married Harvey Lykken on Dec. 13, 1953 in Edinburg, ND. The couple made their home in Adams. Florence worked as a postal clerk in Adams and eventually became the Postmaster. She retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years.

She was a member of the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church and WELCA. She was a member of the Adams American Legion Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors, Homemakers and the Bible Study Group.

Florence is survived by her son, Charles (Pam) Fuhrmann, Adams, ND; two grandchildren: Jennifer Fuhrmann, St. Louis Park, MN and Judd Fuhrmann, Big Lake, MN; her niece: Barbara (Sheldon) Ellefson, Park River, ND; nephew, Richard (Nancy) Gehrke, Hillsboro, ND and special friends: Trudy Anderson, Tucson, AZ and Gail Mathiason, Edinburg, ND. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, grandson, Jeff Fuhrmann, three sisters and four brothers.

Funeral Services will be Monday, October 10, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the Mountain Lutheran Church, Adams, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the West Adams Cemetery, rural Adams, ND.
