Fern E. Rustan

Fern E. Rustan, age 90 of passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River, ND. Fern was born May 3, 1923 at rural Hampden, ND the daughter of the late Martin and Maybell (Meyer) Meling. In 1928 her family moved to Milton, ND where she later graduated from Milton High School. She married Willis Rustan on October 27, 1944 at the Milton Lutheran Church. Following their marriage the couple lived and farmed near the Edinburg-Adams area. In October of 1994 the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Willis passed away November 2nd, 1997. In October of 2012 she moved to the Good Samaritan Center of Park River. She was a member of the former Odalen Lutheran Church, rural Edinburg until 2000 when the church joined Trinity Lutheran Church. She was active in both churches, teaching Sunday school. She was active in the ALCW at Odalen and the WELCA at Trinity. She was also an active member of the Forever Young Senior Citizens. Fern enjoyed reading, quilting, bingo and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by her two sons: Glenn (Mary), Hoople, ND and Curtis, Adams, ND; grandson, David of Hoople, ND, her sisters-in-law, Orine Drevecky, Park River, ND and Lillian Meling, Langdon, ND, Doris Rustan, Northwood, ND. Several nieces and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Harlan and an infant granddaughter. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran church of Edinburg. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Odalen Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Edinburg, ND.
