Evelyn J Barstad

Evelyn J. Barstad, age 99 of Grafton, ND passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Evelyn J. Gjevre was born March 25, 1914 at Hoople, ND the daughter of the late Andrew and Jeanette (Tweten) Gjevre. She was raised and attended country school in the Hoople area. Evelyn was married to G.A. Grefthen of Wannaska, MN and they have one daughter, Mildred. On July 12, 1946 she married Harold Barstad of Edmore, ND and they have two sons, Alden and Darrell. Evelyn enjoyed taking care of her family and always went to a lot of trouble when company came, serving a good lunch. She was a charter member of Bethel Free Lutheran Church and WMF. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Mildred Anderson, Grand Forks, ND; sons: Alden, Grafton, ND and Darrell (Amber), Everett, WA, eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and sisters: Irene Kristofferson, Tulsa, OK and Delores Evenson, Grafton, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and three brothers: Arvid, Clinton and Maynard Gjevre. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Friday, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, ND. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Grafton City Cemetery.
