December 15, 1911 — June 12, 2013

Eva Marie Nottestad, age 101 of Park River, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center. Eva Marie Lindell was born December 15, 1911, in the farm home in Golden Township, the tenth of eleven children of pioneer Swedish Settlers, Alfred and Anna Sofia (Almen) Lindell. She attended Garfield #46 rural country school, received her high school degree from the Walsh County Agricultural School, and attended a summer session at Mayville State Teachers College. Upon completion of the session, she was certified to teach in a rural school in North Dakota. She taught one year in Vesta, District 63. She was united in marriage to Fred Nottestad of Maddock, ND, June 30, 1933. They were able to celebrate their 70th Anniversary in 2003. Eva worked as a baker in Larson's Café for 25 years. She was an excellent baker and cook, and her pies are remembered by many to this day. When the missiles were being installed, the young men would stop at the back door of the café before morning opening to purchase donuts and cookies, taking all they could get and leaving more than enough money to cover the cost. She was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church and Victory Free Lutheran Church. She was active in the church, ladies aide and taught youth education programs. Eva is survived by her children: Darrell (Ellen) Nottestad, Grand Forks, ND; Mary Ann Erickson, Thief River Falls, MN; four grandchildren: Terri (Louis) Machart, David (Tricia) Erickson, Michelle (Richard) Ferguson and Julie (Jeremy) Iverson; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, son-in-law Arthur Erickson, Jr., seven sisters, three brothers and their spouses. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Victory Free Lutheran Church of Park River. Friends may call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.
