Eugenia R. Dvorak

Eugenia R. Dvorak, age 90 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Eugenia Novak was born July 24, 1935 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of the late Christopher and Mary (Hodny) Novak. She grew up and attended country school in Prairie Center Township. Following her education, she worked as a nanny for families with young children and for several area potato farmers. She later went to work for Kimballs Turkey Plant, the meat department at Piggly Wiggly, as a waitress at the café at Gambles, later taking it over, and at the Legion for a short time. She was united in marriage to Bennie Dvorak on June 20, 1961 at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Veseleyville. The couple made their home in Grafton where she worked at as a cook at the Grafton State School until retiring. Bennie passed away in 2014 and she continued to make her home in Grafton until her passing.

She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton and a former member of the Altar Society. She was an excellent baker, known for her caramel rolls and kolaches. She also enjoyed tending to her beautiful flowers beds.

She is survived by her siblings: Christopher Novak Jr., Grafton, ND, Ernest (Helen Soderfelt) Novak, Veseleyville, ND, Geraldine (Warren) Konze, Grand Forks, ND, Leona Sparks, Michigan, ND, and Donald (Janet) Novak, Veseleyville, ND; sister-in-law Betty Novak, Grafton, ND; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bennie; brother Cecil Novak; and infant brother Robert Novak.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 6, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
