Eugene G. Olson

Eugene G. Olson, age 74 of Gardar, ND passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center of Larimore.

Eugene G. Olson was born June 19, 1941 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Nels and Irma (Gehrke) Olson. He attended schools in Sarles and Langdon, North Dakota. Following his education he served a year in the United States Army. Following his discharge in 1966 he moved to Adams, ND where he started working as a heavy equipment operator for Mayo Construction. He was united in marriage to Judy Lee on June 30, 1973 at the Vang Lutheran Church rural Fairdale. Gene later worked for Mikkelson Construction, Close Construction and some construction firms in Minnesota before retiring in 2002. He moved to Gardar and has resided there since.

Eugene was a member of the Davidson American Legion Post in Edinburg. He enjoyed cat fishing, gardening and spending time with his dogs, Miley and Jeb.

Eugene is survived by his daughters: Michele (Steve) Anderson, Langdon, ND; Mya (Thomas) Ganssle, East Grand Forks, MN; Mandi Olson, Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren: Taylor and Erykka Gratton, and Taylee Ganssle, his sister, Dorothy (Norb) Behringer, Siren, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael, sister, Lois and brothers: Vernon, Aldon, Robert, Oscar "Chuck",Berneal "Jim", Paul, Larry and Raymond.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the funeral home. The family will continue with a Celebration of Life at the Dug Out Bar in Park River following the services at the funeral home. Military rites will be provided by the North Dakota National Guard. Interment will be at East Adams Cemetery, Adams, North Dakota. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice and the Larimore Good Samaritan Center for all the exceptional care Eugene received.
