Ethel K Sander

Ethel K. Sander, age 91 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center of Larimore, ND. Ethel K. Lykken was born February 3, 1920 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Lawrence and Hazel (Berg) Lykken. She attended schools in Nash and Grafton. Ethel was united in marriage to Vernon Sander on November 25, 1943 in rural Hoople. They lived and farmed in rural Grafton until moving into town in 1983. Ethel worked as a sales clerk at the Coast to Coast in Grafton. Vernon Sander died on March 9, 1985. She was a member of South Trinity Lutheran Church and WELCA, the Homemakers Club and the Grafton Senior Citizens. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Ethel is survived by her sons: Darryl (Arlys) Sander, Larimore, ND; Dale (Diane) Sander, Grand Forks, ND; four grandchildren: Lynda (Richard) Risan, Blake Sander, Molly Sander and Michael Sander, three great grandchildren: Alexa, Samantha and Michelle Risan, two brothers: Dean (Connie) Lykken, West Fargo, ND and Norman Lykken, Gig Harbor, WA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Judith, brother Don and sister Ruth. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at South Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Grafton. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the South Trinity Cemetery Fund or the ALS Association, P.O.
