Ervin H. Narlock

Ervin H. "Shorty" Narlock, age 85 of Minto, ND passed away on Friday, May 02, 2014 at his home on the hill near Minto. Ervin H. Narlock was born July 14, 1928 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Stanley and Frances (Stoltman) Narlock. He grew up and attended schools in Warsaw and Minto, graduating from Minto High School. He served a short time in the United States Army. Upon his discharge he returned home and farmed with his father. He later did custom farming all over the country, retiring in 1990. He continued to make his home on his farm until his death. Shorty was a member of the D.A.V. and V.F.W. of East Grand Forks, MN and the Minto American Legion Post. He is survived by his siblings: Donna Stiller, Warren, MI; Lorraine (George) Wylot, Placerville, CA; Patricia (Herb) Schmitz, Anchorage, AK, Dennis (Kathryn) Narlock, Rochester, MI; his special friend, Berna Dene "Tinky" Iverson, Grand Forks, ND. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ray, Richard and Frances "Tootie" Sobolik. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to the Minto Quick Response or the St. Stanislaus Cemetery Fund.
