Eric J. Hurt

Eric J. “E.J.” Hurt, age 56 of Hoople, ND, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

Eric Hurt was born February 12, 1962 in Park River, ND, the son of Yvonne (Severson) and the late James Hurt. He grew up and attended school in Hoople. Following high school, he attended Dakota Aerotech in Fargo for aircraft mechanics and AVTI in East Grand Forks, MN for trucking and welding. He was united in marriage to Sherri Byron on March 28, 1991 in Las Vegas, NV. He farmed until 1997, after which he worked several places including Northern Valley Growers, Hagen Construction, the North Dakota State Seed Department, and as a mail carrier.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Hoople. He was an excellent cook and always wanted to be a chef. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and working with his hands, whether it be as a mechanic or welder.

Eric is survived by his children: Zachary and Andrew Hurt, Hoople, ND, mother Yvonne Hurt, Hoople, ND, brother Leslie (Jane) Hurt, Hillsboro, ND, and Sherri Hurt, Hoople, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his father James.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church of Hoople. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Hoople City Cemetery of Hoople.
