Elmer R. Winther, age 96 of Park River, ND passed away on Sunday, March 08, 2009 at the Borg Pioneer Memorial Home of Mountain, ND. Elmer R. Winther was born January 17, 1913 to Bertel and Emelia (Halvorson) Winther in Vernon Township, rural Park River, ND. He attended rural school #97 and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River. Following his education he worked with farming interests with his brothers on the family farm.
Elmer enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He also spent many winters in Arizona and Texas traveling with his motor home. He entered the Borg Pioneer Memorial Home in Mountain on June 18, 2001. He was a member of the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the former Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church.
Elmer is survived by his brother Norman (Margaret) Winther, sister-in-law, Lois Winther all of Park River, ND; sister Thelma of St. Paul, MN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Adolph, Olaf, Joseph and Benjamin and brother Stanley in infancy and sister Benda Wachter.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Pleasant Valley Lutheran Cemetery, rural Park River, ND.
The Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River is in charge of the arrangements.
