Elmer Hjelvik

Elmer Hjelvik, age 91 of Park River, ND and formerly of Adams, ND passed away on Friday, December, 9, 2011 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center. Elmer Hjelvik was born July 29, 1920 in Dewey Township, the son of the late Olaf and Ella (Skare) Hjelvik. He attended school there. Following his education he farmed with his father and twin brother Edwin and brother Bertel. He moved to Park River in 1984 and moved to the Good Samaritan Center in 2005. Elmer is survived by his sister Inez Sanders, Park River, ND; nieces and nephews: Juel (Jan) Hilde, Grand Forks, ND; Eleanor Hendrick, Shelby, NC; Janice (Bob) McGoven, Grand Forks, ND; Wayne (Melanie) Hilde, Grand Forks, ND; Dianne (Darrell) Bratvold, East Grand Forks, MN; Tammy (Del) Shern, East Grand Forks, MN; Dale (Diane) Hilde, East Grand Forks, MN; several great nieces and nephews and several cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Edwin and brother Bertel and an infant sister. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Fairdale, ND. Visitation will be Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Vang Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fairdale.
