Eleanor S. Grzadzielewski

Eleanor S. Grzadzielewski, age 96 of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Ardoch and Minto, ND passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Eleanor S. Mondry was born February 21, 1918 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late John and Anna (Riske) Mondry. She attended rural school near Grafton and graduated from Grafton High School. Following her education she worked at Fish's Variety Store. Eleanor was united in marriage to Sylvester Grzadzielewski on February 14, 1941 in San Diego, Ca. The couple traveled around the United States while he was in the service and returned to Grafton in 1946. They later moved to Ardoch where they lived and farmed. She worked for her brother Leo at the grocery store in Ardoch and later worked for Ann & Lorry's Clothing Store. She also worked for the United States Postal Service until retiring in the late 1970's. The couple spent many winters in Arizona following their retirement. Sylvester passed away on July 7, 1993. Eleanor was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society and the former St. John's Catholic Church and Altar Society of Ardoch. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Keen Homemakers. She is survived by her children: Judy (Jerry) Gray, Winsted, MN; Bob (Jill) Grzadzielewski, Grand Forks, ND; Gary (Liz) Grzadzielewski, Ardoch, ND; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Michael Grzadzielewski, three great grandchildren and ten brothers and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in the spring. The family would prefer memorials to the St. Gianna's Maternity Home at 15605 County Road 15, Minto, ND 58261.
